Condensing a Meadham Kirchhoff show into a few sentences is never an easy job, and this season, as the designers seemed to take us on a journey through their greatest hits so far, it was even more difficult.
There were the usual glam-rock '70s dresses in all manner of chiffons, prints, and colours, teamed with rainbow platforms or chunky flats. There were Chanel-esque tweed suits, worn oversize, as if a little girl had tried on her mother's £5,000 investment wardrobe. There were metallic details, scallop details, pleats, metallics, velvets, and loads of romantic lace-trimmed styles with high necks and tiered skirts. For fans, this was a dream. For those new to the label, it was a very good lesson in what the design duo does best. It was '70s-meets-'90s with a touch of club kid and a whole lot of tongue-in-cheek humour.
