It's rather fitting that in the middle of Summer, when fashion seems to be at its faintest (there's only so much you can do with a tank top, sandals, and cutoffs), Paris Haute Couture Week brings one of the most dramatic displays of opulence. Rich fabrics and ornate embellishments — lace, sequins, beads! — collide on the runways, and we're left fanning ourselves, not due to the high temps, but due to the breathtaking style moments.
Below, we've rounded up our favorite Fall 2014 looks from the couture shows, but more importantly, we predicted where we might see them again soon.
Whether it's a Zuhair Murad dress that perfectly fits Angelina Jolie's good-versus-evil aesthetic, a Valentino gown straight out of a Game of Thrones episode, or a Chanel frock that we are certain Keira Knightley will be requesting in her size, we've matched the most notable looks to the stars who'd do them justice on the red carpet.
Georges Hobeika Haute Couture Fall 2014
Talk about making an entrance. This navy gown, with that oversize train, looks almost liquid, and the one woman who can pull it off is red carpet veteran Sandra Bullock.
Georges Hobeika Haute Couture Fall 2014
Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka is only 14 years old, but she's already got a well-honed sense of style. This age-appropriate floral frock is in a silhouette she's worn before . . . and one we hope she keeps wearing for years to come.
Georges Hobeika Haute Couture Fall 2014
Claire Danes is no stranger to ultralow necklines, and she often turns out in red, so why not give her what she wants with this lace dress?
Georges Hobeika Haute Couture Fall 2014
The epitome of couture, this dress features hand-sewn flowers that make it look as though it's blooming right on the model. Those frills, plus that bright color combination, mean it's a perfect contender for Lupita Nyong'o.
Vionnet Haute Couture Fall 2014
Confidence is key to pulling off this oversize gown. Ever the fashion frontierswoman, Cate Blanchett would likely be up for the challenge.
Vionnet Haute Couture Fall 2014
Pleating has never looked this cool. Eva Longoria could make it look even better.
Vionnet Haute Couture Fall 2014
Now that stars (ahem, Kim Kardashian) are getting more comfortable altering their off-the-runway looks to be even more distinct, Vionnet seems to be beating them to the punch with this dress, which looks as if the model sliced her gown in half and knotted it to the side.
Julien Fournié Haute Couture Fall 2014
Pretty in pink! Not to mention her favorite color, Reese Witherspoon follows the cleavage-or-slit rule, never showing too much of both, so this classic formal dress would be a comfortable choice for the star.
Julien Fournié Haute Couture Fall 2014
It's rare to see Victoria Beckham in any shade other than black, but this minimalist A-line gown would still make her stand out.
Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Fall 2014
Not your typical suit, this prim white jacket-and-skirt set gets an edgy spin with a three-dimensional, branch-like bodice. It could be the perfect choice for House of Cards star Robin Wright.
Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Fall 2014
Angelina Jolie's two favorite colors collide in this dress, which has a side slit, just how she likes it.
Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Fall 2014
If Jennifer Lopez — one of the designer's most famous fans — doesn't wear this on stage at her next concert with the wind machines blaring, we'll be disappointed.
Zuhair Murad Haute Couture Fall 2014
Can we go ahead and call this silhouette "The Kate Middleton"?
Oscar Carvallo Haute Couture Fall 2014
Beyoncé loves a mesh dress, and this one — with leather harness accents and gold-bead appliqués that add movement — evokes serious girl power.
Oscar Carvallo Haute Couture Fall 2014
Can't you see Kate Mara — a frequenter of hard-meets-soft style —wearing this strong-shouldered gown to her next red carpet?
Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture Fall 2014
Although this collection might be a tough one to see on the red carpet, it certainly gets points for being made out of red carpet . . . literally. Perhaps Miley Cyrus would opt for a crop top version.
Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture Fall 2014
When the Fanning sisters aren't rocking Rodarte, we could see Dakota and Elle getting cozy in this bow-tied dress made out of low-pile carpeting. The matching boyish oxfords are the perfect accessory.
Valentino Haute Couture Fall 2014
Seeing that she's so comfortable wearing white on Scandal, we think Kerry Washington's love for feminine prints will make this conservative dress a must-wear.
Valentino Haute Couture Fall 2014
Mary-Kate and Asley Olsen tend toward ultraconservative dressing, and this long-sleeved, high-neck floral dress could even add some dimension to their all-black uniform.
Valentino Haute Couture Fall 2014
The Roman influences of this collection were on full display on this flowing gown, paired with knee-high gladiator sandals. Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke could wear this on and off set.
Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall 2014
Mixing prints may be all the rage, but we'd love to see some attempts at matchy-matchy this season. Plus, we've been loving the recent resurgence of the skirt-over-pants trend – something the androgynous Tilda Swinton could try out.
Ralph & Russo Haute Couture Fall 2014
It didn't get more ladylike than this runway show, and almost every look seemed custom-made for Eva Mendes. Even though she might be opting for maternity versions now, the New York & Company designer loves a retro-fit dress.
Ralph & Russo Haute Couture Fall 2014
Sofia Vergara would no doubt add the va-va-voom factor to this chiffon gown.
Ralph & Russo Haute Couture Fall 2014
Judging by the slim waist, bare décolletage, and yards upon yards of perfectly draped tiers, Christina Hendricks will want this in a bold color.
Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall 2014
Whatever red carpet this chain-printed hoop skirt shows up on, it will be the look everyone talks about. Lady Gaga, do your thing.
Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall 2014
Following her major tuxedo moment at the 2009 Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala, we think Rihanna would shine bright like a diamond in this gold menswear-inspired suit.
Elie Saab Haute Couture Fall 2014
We can't help but squint and try to imagine what designer fan Scarlett Johansson's hourglass figure could do to this ornately embellished ombre dress.
Elie Saab Haute Couture Fall 2014
Does it get any prettier than this three-tone floral dress? Although she's been going the minidress route lately, we'd love Lea Michele to take it for a spin.
Elie Saab Haute Couture Fall 2014
This gown seems tailor-made for Penélope Cruz. We just hope she likes pockets, as the designer took the looks in his couture collection one step further by making them sheer.
Maison Martin Margiela Haute Couture Fall 2014
The fashion house is known for unusual source material, like last season's discarded jewels and trinkets. And this season, in perhaps a nod to the expense of couture, gowns had francs sewn right in. We see Lana Del Rey performing in this one.
Maison Martin Margiela Haute Couture Fall 2014
This "I Love You" message with an appropriate sweetheart neckline seems up Katy Perry's playful alley.
Maison Martin Margiela Haute Couture Fall 2014
Also on display were patchwork shift dresses, primed for the most daring of style setters to try. Drew Barrymore might gravitate toward the ease and eclectic style of this version.
Giorgio Armani Privé Haute Couture Fall 2014
The next time Emma Stone is doing a photo call, we'd love to see her go retro with this coat dress.
Giorgio Armani Privé Haute Couture Fall 2014
Who best to pull off spots on spots on spots . . . and shorts? We think Taylor Swift could handle it.
Giorgio Armani Privé Haute Couture Fall 2014
A red dress is a statement on its own, but a red dress topped with a giant pouf is something else entirely. We can see Dita Von Teese wearing this and still somehow still look slinky and sexy.
Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture Fall 2014
We love how the heaviness and looseness of the beaded top offsets the lightness and tightness of the miniskirt, and we're certain that Heidi Klum does, too.
Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture Fall 2014
Lover of furry coats, Kate Moss knows how to pair heavy outerwear with otherwise incongruent ensembles, like this paper-thin, sheer wrap dress.
Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2014
The fashion house's classic tweed was in full effect this season, and in some instances, the look can be overpowering. The perfect person to wear this — without letting it wear her — is Diane Kruger.
Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2014
Keira Knightley wore Chanel for her wedding, so we think she'd be partial to this white dress. Plus, she loves figure-altering silhouettes, and this one fits the bill.
Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2014
This baby-blue dress is a feat in draping, and those feathery arms help draw attention to some seriously sculpted shoulders. Perhaps Jessica Alba's?
Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2014
A longtime Chanel fan, Jessica Biel would look both statement-making and ladylike in this frilly black-and-white skirt.
Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture Fall 2014
If the Hunger Games were to revamp their "Girl on Fire" dress, we think this orange-engulfed gown is a perfect stand-in, if Jennifer Lawrence doesn't mind. Even the gold strips look like sparks flying.
Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture Fall 2014
Now that the hip bone is officially the new cleavage on the red carpet, we'd like to see Zoe Saldana try out the skin-revealing style again.
Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture Fall 2014
If Halle Berry wanted to wax nostalgic of her famous 2002 Oscar win, this dress is a perfect modern update, with its rich velvet burgundy skirt and completely sheer bodice.
Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Fall 2014
Kate Bosworth is the perfect match for this layered black-and-white striped dress.
Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Fall 2014
This collection showcased many fit-and-flare dresses in tea length with floral sprays of color. It's a wildly romantic, feminine look that is age-appropriate for the younger red carpet frequenters, like Hailee Steinfeld.
Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Fall 2014
For Olivia Palermo, someone who expertly mixes high-and-low and is all about separates over a simple dress, this crisp white tailored shirt tucked into a green floral fishtail skirt is the perfect juxtaposition.
Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Fall 2014
This ombré ball skirt is something straight out of a typical date night on a Sex and the City episode. Sarah Jessica Parker could wear it in her sleep . . . and probably would.
Schiaparelli Haute Couture Fall 2014
The mod shapes and colors of this sweater and skirt — along with the kooky carryall and hat — might not be the red carpet norm, but we could see Zooey Deschanel styling it with her own spin.
Schiaparelli Haute Couture Fall 2014
The fashion house often creates clothes that are made to feel a little uncomfortable, but we think Solange Knowles wouldn't bat an eye about wearing this high-octane yellow dress on her next outing.
Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2014
This season, Dior dinged with bells — to the point that we predict it will be the next big red carpet staple. We're hoping Elizabeth Banks, who has had experience with such intriguing shapes from her Hunger Games costumes, will give this one a ring.
Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2014
Gwyneth Paltrow has a love of pink, and this delicate dress with immaculate pleating and illusion neckline reminds us of her famous 1999 Oscars moment.
Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall 2014
First Lady Michelle Obama could rewear this brocade evening coat all season long.
Loris Azzaro Haute Couture Fall 2014
She's already showed off her hip bone on the red carpet, so up-and-coming model Kendall Jenner would be comfortable wearing this embellished illusion gown.
Loris Azzaro Haute Couture Fall 2014
Jennifer Hudson looks flawless in white, and this dress – with its strategic cutouts and gathered skirt – would stand out on stage.
Atelier Versace Haute Couture Fall 2014
January Jones loves Versace almost as much as she loves wearing bold looks on the red carpet. This cobalt blue jumpsuit will certainly pop.
Atelier Versace Haute Couture Fall 2014
We've seen illusion hemlines before, but this diagonal cut is a new level of sexy, and we think Miranda Kerr could work it best.
Atelier Versace Haute Couture Fall 2014
Versace isn't exactly bohemian, but we still think this sheer painted top over a high-slit black ball skirt would fit Nicole Richie perfectly.
Ulyana Sergeenko Haute Couture Fall 2014
We can only assume the high structured neckline of this architectural feat in design caught Blake Lively's eye as quickly as it did ours.
Ulyana Sergeenko Haute Couture Fall 2014
If anyone knows how to have fun with fashion, it's Cameron Diaz. We can totally see her long legs in these high-waisted trousers. And that mohair sweater is a color mix the all-American actress wears often.
Ulyana Sergeenko Haute Couture Fall 2014
One of the girliest dresses from Paris Couture Week came in this collection, and we foresee Lauren Conrad feeling most at home in this collared peach number.
Maison Anoufa Haute Couture Fall 2014
For a split-second, we actually thought this was Kristen Stewart walking down the couture runway. Paired with a dingy pair of Converses, this look is true to her style while still being appropriate for the red carpet.
Maison Anoufa Haute Couture Fall 2014
The vibrant Selena Gomez would make this otherwise ultra-provocative dress perfectly sexy.
